What exactly to look for when doing your research?
At least four sellers in the top 10 should have a BSR of less than 20k on Amazon. This would ensure there is enough demand for that niche. Also, be wary of the free listings. You don’t want to publish in a niche that has lots of free books. Anything more than three free listings is a red flag.
Open Amazon.com and click on “Best Sellers” under the search bar. Once the page loads up, select Kindle Store from the category sidebar menu. This should show you all the best selling books on Kindle.

Basically, what we are doing here is making sure that enough people are searching for books in that niche and that the self-publishers are making money selling them.
You want the main keywords to have a minimum monthly combined search volume of 3000 and the top writers to be making at least $3k a month. The ebooks should be ideally priced between $0.99 and $9.99.
