Big news! Are you having trouble figuring out why your A+ Content (also known as ‘EBC) listing isn’t performing as you had hoped? Then you need to check out how Amazon’s beefed up their testing! In a recent update to their testing functionality, Amazon now allows sellers with A+ Content listings to perform A/B testing directly on their product titles.

You may wonder why this is such a big deal. Well, just like with anything else FBA selling-related, it’s because of one simple fact: the more data you have, the better decisions you can make. Let’s break it down.

Why A/B Testing Your Product Title Matters

Outside of your product thumbnail, the first thing that customers notice is the title. That means your product title needs to do two things immediately. It needs to:

  • Include keywords that attract customers who actually are interested in buying your product.
  • Tell your customers exactly what your listing is.

You need to do this quickly; with so many listings competing for conversions, buying decisions can come down to a manner of seconds. Your product title needs to be concise, to the point, and expertly optimized. How do you ensure that your title is getting you every conversion possible? A/B testing. Be sure to jump on this feature the second you have access to it!

One thing to keep in mind, though: when it comes to A/B testing, patience is the name of the game. Ideally, you want 8-10 weeks’ worth of data before making a final decision on which title to go with.

Unless you’re a huge name brand with a large advertising budget, you might not have the cash on hand dominate keywords with huge PPC bids. That means thinking outside of the box to find long-tail keywords that are easy to own yet still rank you up a lot faster than expected! Our Keywords on Fire is here to help you do just that.

Some of you newer sellers might not fully understand what A/B testing is. No problem! Let’s have a quick chat about how A/B testing helps move you up the ranks.

How A/B Testing Works

The concept behind A/B testing is simple: craft two listings for the same product using different listing strategies/keywords. You can do this with Amazon’s Manage Your Experiments tool.

After crafting your two listings, Amazon will most likely randomly send customers to each one and send you weekly reports detailing how each listing is performing. The one key metric you need to keep an eye on? Conversions. If one listing generates more sales than the other, congratulations! You have a listing that’s proven to bring you more sales. With more sales, comes more Amazon ranking love.

Not sure how you should conduct your A/B test? Our friends at PickFu recently wrote a guest blog detailing how to structure A/B tests that get you results. Check it out here.

Or maybe you’re struggling to find the right keywords to include in your A/B testing. Then you’ll want to study up on our field-tested Halo Effect Method for finding keywords that bring in conversions!

Some of you may be wondering, “what is A+ Content?” If you haven’t heard of this feature, read on. Because you’re missing out on a lot of sales.

What Is A+ Content?

A+ Content is a feature Amazon offers FBA brand owners who have been approved through the Amazon Brand Registry process. Once eligible, you have a lot more space to add content. More content means more opportunity to tell an engaging story your customers connect with. When you connect with your customers you do kill two birds with one stone:

  • You’re more likely to generate a sale.
  • You establish yourself as a brand that your customers trust, resulting in repeat sales and ranking love from the A10 algorithm.

Here’s a great example of A+ Content that establishes the seller as a trusted brand (follow us on Instagram for more!):

This seller uses A+ Content to tell a story.

Immediately you can see the difference between this and a regular Amazon listing: it effectively uses all the extra space A+ Content afford you to tell a story and establish the seller as a pro.

Another thing to keep in mind? Amazon currently only offers A/B testing on A+ Content. So, if you want to rank up and bring in conversions, you need to seriously consider getting into A+ Content. Your ACoS will thank you.

How To Find Keywords Worth A/B Testing

Don’t forget the basics, though. Your A+ Content also needs some A+ keywords. Don’t know how to find them? Luckily, we have a winning strategy for finding long-tail keywords that help you scale your business up the right way! It’s called The Halo Effect Method, and you can find out more about it here. Check it out now to see how you can harness it for big results, and get some free goodies along the way!
